Quietly, Rudy Gay has been one of the most improved players in the NBA this season. He has matured and is playing consistent, smart basketball. However, Rudy Gay will be away from the court for a while after injury his shoulder. Rudy Gay’s shoulder injury will have him sidelined for at least a month — likely longer.
Rudy Gay hurt his shoulder in the first half of Tuesday’s game between his Memphis Grizzlies and the Philadelphia 76ers. An MRI after the game showed a partial shoulder dislocation.

This past offseason, Rudy Gay inked an $82 million contract with the Grizzlies. Although many NBA pundits thought it was too much money at the time, Rudy Gay has proved doubters wrong. On the season, he’s averaging 19.8 points. 6.2 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 39.9 minutes per game.
Rudy Gay’s injury is a huge blow to Memphis’ chances of making the playoffs. Currently, they are tied with the Utah Jazz for the eighth seed in the Western Conference. They’ll have to hang on while Rudy Gay heals from his shoulder injury.
